14 de agosto de 2024Data communication is the transfer of data from one device to the next via a transmission medium. It is possible to do this using wired media, such as twisted pair cable or coaxial cable as well as wireless media like optic fibers or radio waves. The data has to be encoded, then encapsulated and transmitted by the device that is transmitting it, and then decoded and released by the device receiving it. This process is similar in nature to transmission of analog signals however, it is more intricate and is focused on binary data (1s and 0s).
Companies are using data communications to better share information with users who are scattered. This can improve efficiency within their business. For instance, an automobile manufacturer needed to communicate information to 6’000 untrained and dispersed spare parts dealers in order to make sure that stock is in line with demand and reduce waste. This required communication via an unoptimized network for data transmission and use of a mobile application that was difficult for non-technical users to navigate.
Effective data communication starts with understanding your audience’s perspective on the data. It involves creating visuals that help tell the story and provide context-based information. It also involves articulating insights in a clear, concise narrative. It also involves tailoring the content to the individual audiences according to their hierarchy, technical proficiency and interest level. It also involves pushing the boundaries of creativity to make data communications more impactful and memorable.
